HDR Photography – View from the Arc de Triomphe
“View from the Arc de Triomphe” – Here’s a shot that I took in Paris, France. This photo was taken on top of the Arc de Triomphe. There are stairs that take you underneath the giant roundabout surrounding the Arc (I don’t think you could cross the street otherwise with all the traffic.) After a quick security check, you climb 284 steps up a spiral staircase to the viewing platform. Once at the top you see a spectacular view of the Parisian skyline. It’s an interesting perspective as all roads point to you from every direction. As the sun set and the city lights came on, I set up and started to take my shots.
Post Processing “View from the Arc de Triomphe – I took three bracketed shots EV (-2, 0, +2) and combined them in Lightroom to create an HDR image. Then I used Lightroom on a single exposure (EV, 0) to create a couple of different creative versions. Next, I combined the original three EV (-2, 0, +2) RAW files into Photomatix to create another HDR version. Finally, I blended all my “versions” into Photoshop to get the final image!
